Washing child's face

My DD has had a few pimple-like spots on her face, she's 4. I've been washing her face with water and cotton wool, but maybe this isn't cutting it anymore? Any suggestions?

I wash their faces with a flannel and soap, just a normal bar of bath soap.

I got a Dove bar for my kids to use once they were past toddler stage, their faces start to need something soapy to remove the dirt and oil secretions.

While we're on the subject, my eight year old has a spot on her cheek which looks like a big unsightly whitehead. The doctor says it's probably a blocked sebaceous gland and won't touch it. Have tried everything including gentle sqeezing after a bath, hot flannels, facial scrub, antiseptic, spot cream and even toothpaste but it stubbornly remains there. Any ideas?
