dd(7) has had an awful 'chesty' cough for a few months now, most of this year in fact.weve had at least 4 trips to GP who has listened in to her chest and said it sounds clear,no infection but will give her antibiotics just incase.cough is still no better,it sounds very crackly and on a morning it takes ages for her to clear her throat of mucus to be able to speak or eat properly. on top of this, for the past 3-4 days she has c/o feeling dizzy which is starting to worry me.obv im taking her back to the docs but does anyone have any experience of this, does it sound connected? should i be pushing for a chest x-ray? tia

Definitely push for an X-ray! Listening to a chest is extremely difficult because of all other sounds, very very very few doctors are actually able to correctly diagnose based on listening. For most, listening to a chest is more like going through the motions to reassure patients/parents. According to various paediatricians I've spoken with, the only way to properly diagnose chest infections (incl pneumonia) is through a chest X-ray. If you cannot get it through your GP (in the next few days) I would take her either to A&E or have it done privately. Good luck.
