Hello,

We have been having sleeping problems with DS over past 3 months, he suffers with night terrors often but apart from this he wakens evry night around 3-7 times a night!!!

After months of fighting on and me and DH trying everything we possibly can and contacting HV twice we made an appointment to take him to see our GP.

Just yesterday i went and i actually cried when telling her how unsettled and hard it has been, he wakens and screams and theres just no settleing back to sleep, i told her when is wakens he kicks and pulls and rubs the top of his legs and his nappy he sounds as if he is in pain.
He does suffer with constipation and as been taking lactulose for around 6 months to help with his bowel movments. GP explained that when he is kicking his legs it could because of tummy pains and griping and has now given him MOVICOL to try, she also noticed when examining him, she couldnt find his testicles??????? She tried 3 times to feel them bt couldnt she asked if i had noticed them before but i know it sounds bad but i dont really feel him i just clean and change him, i feel bad.
She sadi sometimes babys can become anxious and they can go upwards and maybe thats why she couldnt feel them, she asked if we could give him a warm bath and when he is relaxed to see if we can feel them. Me and DH tried last night but cant feel them.
I am now really worried that there is a problem and when he pulls at his nappy and legs tru night crying that he may be in pain with his wee bits.
Surely they would havd checked him when he was born and they would have picked up if there was a problem wouldnt they??? She want to see him back in 3 weeks to see how the MOVICOL is working and to re-examine him.

Any one else went tru this??

Hiya. I'm sorry I can't really help you, but I just wanted to say that I have never once considered thinking about checking DS! So seriously I don't think you are to blame at all!

Gottakeepchanging · 18/03/2011 07:24

They check when born and again when babies. Don't panic.

If you are worried ask to see a consultant. Can you feel them yourself now that there is more time and less pressure?

Gottakeepchanging · 18/03/2011 07:25

Should add if they are undescended it's a simple operation.

Gottakeepchanging · 18/03/2011 07:27

Plus how old is he? Lots dont descend until 4 months? Was he prem? It's then much more common. Imthink about 5 per cent of babies have this. Most sort out naturally.

Me and DH have tried a few times since having him at doctors on wed we managed to feel 1 but not the other ?? HOpfully it will sort itself out, im just worried he is so unsettled because he is in pain with it.

It is a small day op but should be done asap as there is some evidence it affects later fertility.
