DD (11) has had vaginal discharge for about a year now which has gradually become heavier over the months. It does not vary, is not itchy or smelly.

Does anyone know if thi means her periods may be imminent or could it be something else?

My 12 yo dd is the same, has been like this for a year or so. She is really developing and every month she gets stomach ache so I am bracing myself for her starting her period.

It's the same here MMM. She is developing in other areas so I guess that it is what it is. It's good to hear it's not unusual to have this discharge.

Tis normal.
Just make sure that she understands the proceedure and kit her out with some panty liners.

I was a bit worried at first but asked my sister who is a gyne nurse and she reassured me.

It's scary all this growing up isn't it! I have given her some sanitary towels to keep in her school bag incase she starts at school.

Thanks all. She is all kitted out and knows what to do, in fact she asked me to post this as it was so long ago for me I couldnt remember. She is still at primary so hope it holds out till secondary.

I offered to show dd how to open and stick the pad in her knickers. She was like 'for gods sake mum do you think I'm stupid" Grin

I remember having this in last year of primary school. Still didn't start my periods until just before my 13th birthday. Makes me think this is relatively normal.

I got my DD a cute little make up bag to keep some pads, liners, spare knickers and pain killers in her school bag as she was concerned that people might see them. Smile
