DD has been poorly since xmas with a different infection almost every week. The last bout of illness started 2 weeks ago with a high temp and cough, took her to gp various times and first just a virus then lung started crackling and they said ear infection, then was coughing really bad and out of breath so said chest infection and given amoxcillan. She finished her amoxcillan Sunday and the cough has returned as bad as ever, and she is getting out of breath. No temp yet. I dont know wether to take her to the gp or just wait and see if she gets a temp ( I feel a bit stupid taking her to the docs all the time cos she has been about 5 times in the last 2 weeks)

Can you ring and speak to your doctor?

MummyBerryJuice · 16/03/2011 12:23

Take her . As long as you fee uneasy you should take her.

I would also insist on further tests especially since she is worse after a course of amoxicillin. Don't let them make you feel silly. You are her mum and know her best. If you think something is wrong, chances are that there is.

Take her. She's still obviously poorly and some investigations need to be done.

I will ring and see if I can speak to the doctor at the surgery who knows her history. I was a bit peeved off that she never had a chest x ray 2 weeks ago cos she was admitted to hospital overnight and the nurse who was looking after her said they should do a chest x ray with a cough like that, but the doctor said no need as she wasent unhappy in herself. I tried to explain to him that she is not bothered by illness and 4 weeks earlier she had had a urine infection and wasent bothered but he just said she cant be ill if she is happy

Rang and spoke to receptionist told her the message to ask the gp to ring me back and she said to bring her down at 3.30 to see the gp,so it looks like another doctors trip on the cards to make me look like a neurotic mam!!!

You know your DD best if you feel she is unwell especially after finishing the antibiotics I would definitly see a doctor.
I hope she is better soon!
