Should I have gone to dr?

DD is 8w and yesterday was ill for the first time. Spot of vomiting, slight temperature (not sure what exactly as bloody battery had gone on new thermometer), crying, random screaming (she only ever cries when hungry pr tired and rarely even then), very dark green slightly mucousy poo (not curdy at all- dd is ebf).

Apart from these symptoms she was quite happy and only cried or screamed a few times.

We gave her 3 doses of infant panadol 4 hours apart. This morning she is fine. No temp, spot of spit up, poo still odd but better.

Should we or should we have taken her to dr?

I would have gone; probably still would just to be sure. Fevers in under 3 months should always be checked out: when it is something serious they can deterioriate very, very quickly. Chances of meningitis for example are small - but if you are the 1 in xx thousands, like my DD was, statistics don't matter

I also think it is unwise to medicate such a small baby without Dr advice

FWIW - it sounds like she has a cold and swallowed mucus, which can make nappies go all strange. Glad she is better this morning

I would consult GP ... Better to get it checked...

Any fever in a baby under 3 months means a trip to the doctor. She's probably fine but it is always better to be on the safe side!

As the others have said, you just take her to get her checked out. When my DD was about 2 months ahe had a temp and I didn't take her to the doc for about three days, they gave me a real telling off.

Also you shouldn't medicate a baby that age without medical advice. It's probably nothing but at that age you have to be really careful.

Blush

Ok thanks all. I'm taking her in first thing tomorrow (it's already 10pm here). She has been fine all day but you're all right, better to check.

If she is fine now I wouldn't bother. I only ever take DS to the drs if he needs it, if I went at every slight sniffle we would live there.

If your worried about her at all then go but otherwise I would just wait and see how it goes.
