9 m/o ds is taking wobbly steps and is a complete liability. He's just lifted his buggy whilst walking with it across the room and over-balanced backwards cutting his mouth in the process. I thought at first it was a serious cut from the sheer amount of blood that poured out, it took 10 min to stop it and find where he'd actually cut. Luckily it's actually a little cut just inside his lip. I bet it's going to be very sore/ swollen later. Does anyone have tips for reducing the swelling or managing feeds while sore? He also whacked his head good and proper, though at the moment no amount of helicopter parenting seems to prevent this on a daily basis and he has a big bruise on his forehead anyway.

I'm sorely tempted to stick his cycle helmet on him indoors! If the hv saw him they'd think I was battering him as he so tiny he looks unlikely to be up yet, he's only 16.5lb

Just cold drinks and maybe a bit of ice cream.

He would eat an ice-pop, didn't think of that. Thought of ice-cream but he's allergic to milk/ soy so not easy. I'll make a baby slush puppy I guess! Ta. He's asleep peacefully now, so time to freeze.

Ooh poor thing. Lips bleed like buggery. Calpol and ibruprofen to lessen the pain and reduce the swelling. Try sticking a banana in the freezer and giving him that to chew on.

What about freezing a gel type teething ring too?

DD2 fell off a bed and split her lip on an (unused) fireplace night before her first birthday party. It bled for ages, I freaked out, my elderly neighbour told me to give her an icepop to bring the swelling down which worked.
She was walking at 9months too, total disaster. She's 2.5 now and you can see the scar on her lip. It healed quite quickly but is still noticeable. I fed her once the bleeding stopped, think the comfort from feeding outweighed the discomfort she must have felt.
