Antibiotics and scratching

My dd has been on strong antiobiotics since Tuesday for pneumonia. The last two nights she has woken up at midnight extremely agitated and it takes her a couple of hours to get back to sleep. Anyway, last night same thing but this time she is scratching her face and head. She did this the whole night even when she was sleeping. She was also tossing and turning a lot during her sleep, normally she does not do this. There is no noticeable rash on her face or head, so what could it be?
Could it be the antibiotics?

Please put my mind at rest. The last two weeks have been extremely tiring and am very upset to see dd in so much distress.

guess it could, your pharmacist will be able to advise on poss side effects, ABs send yoru whole syste out of balance so could be something to do with that?

this has happened with my daughter the 2 times she has ever been given anti biotics. On both occassions the GP seemed to think this itching was not related but both times I stopped the anti biotics and it stopped. I am now considering saying to my GP to add to her records that she is alergic to ABiotics.

Ok that is good to know. Dd has only another 2 days on antibiotics and then I am hoping that when we see the doctor on Friday she will give us the all clear.
