Vomiting

My dd 20 months. Had really bad diarrhoea for over a month, went to docs 3 times and they were useless. Only thing which solved it was rice water (I researched it myself in the end). Anyway, been well for a week or 2 but had severe vomiting today and explosive nappies leaking through her 2.5 tog sleeping bag through to her bed linen! Seemed fine this morning. At the end of the day she was lying down on the kitchen floor - she seemed very weak which is very unlike her. Waiting for em doc to call back but any ideas? She had her second mmr on Thursday. She doesn't have any older siblings or go to nursery but is always putting things in her mouth and eats handfuls of sand from her sandpit, tries to drink bath water etc. Slightly high temp, about 38. Can't help worrying something serious might be wrong, she just seems to be ill too much for my liking ...

if it's of any reassurance to you, my ds had diarrhoea for a month or so, although he was otherwise fine. Stool samples didn't show anything. Think it was 'toddler's diarrhoea' as then it just went away on it's own. Perhaps this is what she has, and the vomiting bug she has now is unrelated? Keep her hydrated now, but no food esp not dairy. Hope she feels better soon.

Thank you - she has been well for a week or 2 in between the diarrhoea stopping and today. Just wondering if both might be related to something more serious, it's been so long since she's vomited and apparently it was quite severe (3 times and dry gagging)?! Otherwise I am worried about why she has suddenly started being so sick, when she slept well last night and was fine this morning. If they are separate issues what might have caused her to be so ill today?!

Just a normal stomach bug- they do come on really fast. Keep an eye on her temp and keep her hydrated, there's not a lot else you can do. Believe me I know it's hard! She should stop vomiting within 24 hours ish, diarrhoea can carry on longer.
