Nappy rash in 2.9yo - any suggestions

DD2 had diarrhea (not really bad, just quite creamy, peanut-butter like poo) on Wednesday and had a sore bottom afterwards. Usually this clears quite quickly but she has been having 2-3 poos per day with each one being this loose-ish poo and every time the skin is looking awful.

There's now a little bit of broken skin and the redness is spreading down her thighs a bit. She is walking like John Wayne some of the time (not all the time) and nappy changes are extremely difficult as she is very upset.

We usually use sudacrem but think she needs more. Any ideas? I can get an appt with gp on Thursday (seeing about something else anyway) or do I need to be seeing someone earlier than that or is it something that just needs time to heal?

She's eating well, otherwise fine in herself, but it's the worst nappy rash she's ever had and it's very very difficult with such an old child.

We've been trying to potty train on and off for a few months but she loves the theory but hasn't worked out the practice at all (sits for ages quite happily but never does anything on the pot/toilet) and now with the diarrhea, I don't really dare risk any nappy-off time which I know would help. We're also in the middle of selling the house so could do without scent of diarrhea in the carpets....

Any tips on dealing with it in child of this age? Any cream/other treatment?

Lots of nappy off time. Wash bum with cotton wool and water (not wipes). Dry thoroughly with tissues and metanium nappy cream is a miracle-worker (but very messy!). Rice water is great for diarrhoea, only thing which worked for us.

Sorry just seen your concerns about nappy off time! Ignore that bit then and just buy lots of metanium. It comes in a yellow tube.

hiya,
i find metanium is brilliant (get it in any chemist). put it on at night and by morning the rash is always improved loads. i think it treats the rash where as sudocreme is just a barrier cream...

Can you give her some nappy off time while sitting on the pot? Time it about 10 mins after drinking and let her watch tv or read to her and not only will you be rewarded with a wee on the pot, hooray! but you might get some air to her bottom.
If she doesn't wee after 20 minutes/she gets bored that's not a problem, just make it a rule that once she comes off her nappy goes on - and the tv goes off too.

should have said "might get a wee on the pot" but will definitely get air on her bot
