Cranial Osteopath - does it work

Does anyone have experience of using a cranial osteopath? I'm considering it for my 2week old baby who is suffering from terrible colic. She was a c section baby so unsure if it would still work given there shouldn't have been any trauma to her body on delivery.

But what about being hoiked out from their snug little uterus-house so fast, they didn't have time to prepare themselves???

DS had a lot of CO treatment and yes, for him it worked.

If you choose someone on the register of Osteopaths, who is qulaified to treat children and babies, then there will be no detrimental effect. Yes, it may not work but then again, it might work.

I wholy believe in it but others don't.

The sooner you have treatment when they're young, the more quickly she'll repsond. It's supposed to take longer to respond the older they get.

DD had muscle damage from a very long labour, malpositioning (8hr second stage) and an emcs. She couldn't move her head to the right at all. Consequently, she really struggled to feed.

A CO made a real difference. After one session she could move her head to the right and after 3 she was latching on properly. He was brilliant and showed me the range of movements that were improving after each session. After each session she slept like she never had before. She was very sore before then and woke crying very frequently.

I have no personal experience but a friend had a very long labour that ended in an EMCS a couple of years ago. Baby screamed for hours on end for the first four weeks and, finally, a midwife took heed of their cries that it wasn't normal and suggested an osteopath.

Turns out her spine was slightly out of alignment as a result of the late CS and poor baby had had a near constant headache.

After a couple of sessions my friend said she was like a different baby and it did the trick.

I doubt everyone gets that fabulous a result but if they're properly qualified you lose nothing by trying it.

Thanks for the messages. Will definitely give it a try. As you say, it's worth a shot!
