temp won't come down

wonder if anyone can help me, my DD got a sudden temp at 1oam, I gave a full dose of calpol then at 11am it was even higher so gave 5ml of mandefen. Now her temp is still 39.6. I have the windws open and she only has a t-shirt on. Any ideas what else I can do?? She's 4.5 BTW .

What is mandefen? Does she have any other symptoms? I think I'd try sponging her down and if that didn't help seek advice from a proper HCP.
As she is that old, she can tell you if it hurts anywhere, does it cause pain when she pees, has she a rash or anything similar?

sorry mandefen is ibuprofen, she just said her wrist and leg hurts so just general aches and pains. No rash I can see, no cough/cold etc

Possibly it's just a virus that will go on its own. I would have a go at sponging her down, particularly if she 'feels's hot. It is nasty being sweaty.

alfies - not wanting to scare you but leg pain is one of the early symptoms of meningitis so just be on guard - does she have any neck pain?can she put her chin to her chest? Any headache? If she seems in any way confused or unresponsive I would take her to see a doctor - best to be on the safe side. She's probably fine - meningitis is quite rare but always worth knowing these things I think!

Be wary of sponging... it can cause rigors which increase the temperature and as such I'm pretty sure they don't recommend it any more. I recall a fan on oscillate, not directly pointed at the poorly one but just wafting air around the room is the recommended option.
