Constant thrush in DD???

My DD has had pretty constant thrush over the last few months. Would like your opinion because i'm just confused at this stage. I think its thrush because i saw pictures on a link on another thread. Anyway, we have constantly been to the Dr's who has given canestan and something else (like Timotte).

The rash is not always inside her lips (if you know what I mean). Its all over the top of them and spots up to her belly button. She also had a chicken pox like rash all over her back which lasted for over 2 months. Kept responding to creams but coming back again. Do you think this sounds like thrush!

Im thinking I might get some daktarin and try treating her orally as well. She is constantly pulling at herself and it really pains me to see her this way. Sad Fed up going to the Dr's because im never away. Long list of minor but irritating health issues!

Have you washed all her towels, bedding, pants, pjs etc at 60 degrees? I know that can help stop it coming back - washing any cooler won't kill the thrush.

Fungal infections are linked with low immunity, that's why trying to kill them off doesn't work long term.
Have tried all sorts on my ds but the only thing that wiped it out was a zinc supplement which is frequently deficient in people with fungal infections. In fact Zn is one of the supplements that improve immunity overall, try it?

Thanks for the advice. Yes I do wash everything at 60 degrees because she has eczema as well and this is supposed to help. Will definitely get the zinc tomorrow and try this. We got cream of the Dr but she is still red. Will prob take her back on Monday if it hasnt calmed down by then!

We showed the peadiatric consultant the spots under her nappy area recently and she didn't know what they were. At this point they were not all over her 'lips' as they are at the minute. its driving me crazy- just want to get her sorted!

the chicken pox type rash sounds like an eczema problem and not like thrush at all Has anyone taken a swab to see what they are actually trying to treat Might be a good starting point, but taking zinc sounds like a good idea as well.

No Dr hasn't bothered taking a swab, but thats a great idea! The consultant didn't think it was eczema but I will go to Dr on Monday and see if they can do that. The rash doesn't seem as angry but isn't really clearing. I went the Health Shop today and he told me to give her probiotics as they would help both thrush and eczema. If it keeps going I will request a referral to a dermatologist. When we were at the allergy clinic last week the consultant there said that this should have been done previously.

you should try to get some acidophilus for children.

try to cut sugar out of her diet as much as possible and make sure washing products are for sensitive skin.

i would also insist on a referral to a dermatologist.
