toddler vomiting dozens of times a day for last 5 days

We went to A&E at first but they sent us home saying there are no antivomiting drugs (there used to be but they are now not considered safe anymore) and all we can do is make him drink small gulps of ribena (or sugary water). He's not showing signs of dehydration yet, he's just exhausted (despite a couple of hours feeling quite well yesterday). Fortunately he doesn't vomit at night, so he gets a decent rest.
My 3 month old did vomit a few times right at the beginning but seems to be feeling ok at the moment, and I have felt quite crummy at times. So it does seem to be a bug. (and before you ask the GP has done the meningitis test, and we are looking out for signs of a rash, but nothing so far).
He had a very high fever for 2 days (40ish) but it's now back to normal.

Does anyone have an experience of a stomach bug lasting quite so long? What did you do?
Are my local A&E and GP useless or were you told to wait it out as well?

Thanks all!

When both my DDs caught Norovirus for the first time they had it for longer than subsequent times. Neither vomited like you have described, but they did vomit to varying degrees for up to 5 days, sometimes seeming better then relapsing.
Obviously it is a big concern, but just wanted to say that IME it could still just be the bug.

I also second to keep pushing the fluids. Tiny amounts of dilute ribena worked for us - a small mouthful every 10 or 15 mins - though I'm not a doctor - it's just what we did and it seemed to work. I didn't realise how much liquid they needed after vomiting for days and DD1 did get dehydrated towards the end of the week and was nearly hospitalised.

Sounds like the Norovirus, which can last five days, so hopefully your ds is now nearing the end. Try to give plain water, small sips or rehydration sachets and anything else he might want (maybe rice cakes, plain crackers, tea biscuits?). Might take a little while before he is fully over this. Lots of rest, lots of love and attention, hope he feels better soon.

My eldest tends to sporadically vomit once or twice a day for up to 10 days after the first 24hrs of constant vomiting with a bug. Just keep the drinks up it will pass. One doctor said a tiny bit of apple juice in the water helps the liquid to be absorbed quicker than plain water something to do with the sugar.
We just had it all weekend. I am feeling like I have it now. Groo.
