how much does your 10 year old dd weigh ?

she is about 6 stone 4 pounds and is about 4ft 4 inches tall - im worried she is getting overweight.

Is she physically active most every day?

Does she over-eat?

I wonder if she is due a growth spurt soon, as she isn't very tall for 10 years old.....but then my just-turned-10-year-old is about 5ft tall (so one of the tallest girls in her year).

me and dh are both 5ft 2 so she will never be tall !
we dont drive and therefore she has to walk to and from school and does sports and swimming at school- she is starting puberty so i was wondering if its due to that ?
she doesnt over eat.

That is quite heavy. Is she muscular? What sort of build are you and her father?

im a big lady always have been but dh is only 9 stone

I was 5 and a half stone when I started secondary school, I was 5' and not skinny, just right. If she looks chubby then she is.

My nearly 11 year old dd is 4ft 5 and weighs about 41/2 stone. I'd say she's slim but not super-skinny.

An extra two stone on that does sound quite a lot.

Maybe your dd has inherited your larger frame/build instead of that of your slim dh?

yes im sure thats it - our two boys are built like their dad ,all the women on my side are bigger and short not such a good combo

You might like to look at the WHO centile charts. If her weight centile is clearly higher than that for height, then she may be overweight (it's the mismatch, rather than the actual figure which matters).

Early puberty may have a small confounding effect, if weight gain is preceding height spurt.

I was 4'11" at 17 and weighed 6 1/2 stone. See your school nurse to check her weight versus height. Overweight children become overweight adults with multiple health problems.

My 11 yo is 4ft 6 and just under 5 stone

She's slim but not particular skinny.

My soon to be 10 year old is 142 cm tall and weighs just over 4 and half stone. She is on the skinny side of average I would say.

However, I should add that my 7 year old DS weighs exactly the same and he is only 132 cm tall. Again he has no 'fat' on him but he has a lot of muscle.

Just converted 4 foot 4 inches and it is 132 cm, so your dd is the same height as my DS. He weighs 4 stone 9 lbs. I would say that your DD does sound quite heavy.

She's fairly average in height and weight, I'd say.
