Can I give DD nurofen?

She's 9 months old and really unhappy. She's full of cough and cold, really snotty and now shoving her hands in her mouth constantly so I'm suspecting teething pain aswell.

Should I give her nurofen or is that pointless/unnecessary?

She doesn't have a temperature.

I'm assuming it's junior nurofen?

There are lots of people who judge for using calpol/nurofen if the child doesn't have a temperature, but it's been the only way dd has been able to sleep this week so I say boo to them. If it makes your child more comfortable then I would give it.

It's not just for reducing a temperature in my book, it's for easing pain too.

Yes it is junior.

Thanks for replying.

If you think she is in pain, I would give her it. See how she is afterwards and if she seems better then you'll know she needed it. I hope she gets better soon Smile

If you had a cold, sore itchy teeth, sore throat, headachy and out of sorts would you take a cold remedy? I'm sure you answered yes! Lots of cuddles, milk, sleep and pain relief - she'll be better in no time! Smile

I would def give nurofen personally. I am a bit judgey of parents who never give calpol/ibuprofen when their child is ill/teething - if I would take it myself in the same situation then I give it to my child. That said, probably some other parents are a bit judgy of my "seems to be out of sorts, will try a bit of calpol and see if that helps" attitude too!
