Washing hands

Why do all washing hands guidelines for children say that it must be done using warm water. Surely cold water would be fine (and won't get too hot after running for a while)?

If you don't have a mixer tap or don't want them fiddling with the hot tap, of course cold water is fine. Anything is better than nothing! I always thought the warmth was to create more bubbles, certainly doesn't make soap clean any better. HTH.

Thanks bagpuss - I was beginning to think I was missing some key piece of information re: temperature!
