3 year old with discoloured bottom teeth please advise

I noticed a while ago that my DS has slightly discoloured bottom teeth- just the four or so at the bottom seem to be a grey/ beige colour up to the half way. The rest of his teeth seem fine. His bottom eye teeth have a grey line accross the middle, like pencil.

He was pretty upset when the dentist examined him, so dentist did not get long to look, but he put it down to antibiotics or discolouration from food (!).

I saw them in bright sunlight by the window yesterday and freaked- they seem worse than ever.

He has a bottle in the morning and before dinner(I know, I know...) but only ever has milk in it and never has a bottle in bed.

He has diluted juice sometimes but is more likely to have water and smoothies about 4 times a week with a straw. He eats alot of fruit but usually as part of a meal.

We are pretty good about brushing his teeth but he hated it when younger so it was hard to do it properly.

Please advise- could it be bottle decay? Or other decay? I am mortified/ worried for him.

I read that brushing with baking soda can help. Anyone got experience?

How often do you brush his teeth? Have you tried an oral b childrens electric toothbrush? IMO they are much better.

It could just be the way his teeth are, I hope someone else comes along in a minute to offer you more advice.

I noticed ds's teeth went a browney grey after his antibiotics. I scrubbed and scrubbed at them in a panic and they did come clean eventually but I had to do it much more than a normal teeth clean. I was worried they were stained from within but thankfully they have been fine since.

My dd's bottom tooth went grey after she bashed it on an iron bedstead. Apparently it can mean the root has died, and basically there is nothing we can do, I just need to wait for it to drop out apparently.I've heard the thing about the antibiotics as well so it could be that.

he has had antiobiotic a couple of times, so it could be that. its a pretty uniform grey/ beige accross the bottom so i dont think he bashed it.

anyone got experience of using 'baking soda' to get the stains off?

I saw this on a few US sites and guess it must mean bicarbonate of soda, as we dont call it baking soda.

guadalupe- how soon after antibiotics did your DS teeth change?

I think it was within a few weeks, fairly quickly anyway.

My dd (now 9) has some funny coloured teeth due to problems with the development of the enamel.

Get yourself a good dentist!
