white or brown bread?

I am really confused about which bread to feed my 8 year old with. I have been giving him wholemeal bread thinking it was better, but is it too much fibre? I have been told white is good because of the calcium, so I don't know what to do! Can anyone help please?

I buy wholemeal as basic everyday bread, but once or twice a week I'll also get some French bread, or some muffins/crumpets made with white. No idea if thats the 'right' proportions though Smile

I give wholemeal bread to my 2 who are 4 and 7. A fully wholegrain diet is not suiable for children under the age of 5 so your lo is fine to have brown/wholemeal bread. Mine have white pasta and rice along with their wholemeal bread so they are not overdosing on fibre.

I make sandwiches out of one slice wholemeal and one slice white. The white keeps them happy, the wholemeal keeps me happy.

Thank you everyone for your help. I like the idea of one slice White with one slice wholemeal! Might try that myself!
