DS has got chicken pox. We have a 7 week old DD - do we need to do anything to protect her or if she gets it is there anything different that should be done?

Thanks

your dd will have been exposed when your ds was at his most contagious (1-2 days before the spots came out) so there isnt much you can do to protect her. Is she bf or ff as I think bf can offer some protection if you have had chicken pox in the past. You will not find out for up to 3 weeks whether your dd has caught it as the incubation period is 10-21 days. If she does catch it as a baby she may get it again later on or may get childhood shingles (reactivation of dormant chicken pox virus).

Thanks Seona. She is bf and I have had chicken pox as a child. Will wait and see!
