Vomiting after pyloric stenosis

My 9 week old had the pyloric stenosis op several weeks ago.... but she is still bring sick. Not every feed, but regularly (at least every day). Doctors say just to keep an eye as she is otherwise well (i.e. she isn't dehydrated to death's door like she was before we got the diagnosis). She has also gained weight.

I'm not really happy - there must be a cause for the vomiting as isn't normal baby spitting up. I mentioned incomplete op but docs dismissed this - as if their surgical competence was being questioned. They said she would be vomiting every feed if this was the problem.

Has anyone else had anything like this? What could be the cause? Could it be an incomplete op which causes gradually more regular vomiting (as happened when she first got it)?? Or something else? I have googled and found mention of antral web and GI atresia, but can't find any intelligible info.

Don't want this to go unanswered, but not sure I'll be of any help . My nephew had this last year and as far as I can remember had no vomiting afterwards at all.
If I were you, I would push for an answer. They will probably have you down as an over anxious Mum, but they did this to my SIL anyway before DN was diagnosed.
Where did she have her op done? My Dn had his at Kings, which I believe is a specialist centre. Would it be worth emailing one of their professors/consultants as a long shot?

My 9 week old pyloric stenosis at five weeks. He also spits up - sometimes a few mouthfuls, sometimes a dribble; certainly nothing like the volumes and force prior to the operation. They did warn me that there may be some reflux - I think he does have a little reflux. He doesn't seem to be in any pain and he sleeps well and on his back so I'm not worried. But that's what I've put it down to; I would be very surprised if it's anything to do with operation. But I would definitely persist in getting a response from your doctors. We have our follow up appointment next week and i'll be making sure every one of his symptoms is fine and unrelated to the operation.

If I learn anything, I'll report back. I'd say don't worry, but I totally totally understand that you've been through a nightmare and it results in a lot of anxiety.

Thanks for the responses. I'm definitely down as over-anxious, as I was before the diagnosis. I think they only believed me when she vomited over a doctor (girls don't get it...)!! The attitude seems to be that unless she loses weight then they don't think there's a problem, but I know it is more than reflux- elder child had this and the vomiting is more and more forceful.

Don't worry about what they've got you down as. You've got every right to feel anxious now, after what your DS has been through. Don't let them undermine your instinct - that's what I've learnt. And it's rubbish that girls don't get pyloric stenosis. There were two girls in the hospital we were in about to have the op. It's just less common. Keep pushing for a response - it's rubbish that unless a child isn't thriving in weight terms, the other symptoms aren't take as seriously.

My 6 week old had the "py" op almost a month ago and was still sick after his feeds while we were in the hospital - although not with the same force as before.

The nurses recommended Carobel to thicken the milk and help him to keep it down and it works really well, we just get the odd bit of spit up. We get this on prescription but you can also buy it over the counter in Boots etc. Would obviously speak to an HV or someone before starting on it though.

We were never actually told whether this was because of reflux or not (and I forgot to ask) but I'm going to double check with the HV this week.
