Hi

My D's who is four fell earlier on and banged his head.

All seemed well after the tears had dried up so we went about our day.

Promised a trip to pizza hut so we went.

About ten mins after we left restaurant he started complaining of sore tummy and then vomited when we got home about 45 mins later.

Is it the pizza or the hitting of head earlier?

Have a fair idea but wanted some other opinions

Take him to A and E now. This is not one to waste time discussing on the internet.

Sounds more pizza orientated to me, possibly a bit rich for a 4 year old. How big or significant was the fall? Did he just trip and bang his head, was there bruising, bumps, which part of his head, did he cry immediately, was it from a height, does he have a headache, look pale, quiet, not himself? How is he in himself once the vomiting was out of the way. If he is otherwise well now and alert I doubt much would be done in A&E. But I would check him several times overnight. Wake gently to get a normal response - bit a a faff I know but best to be safe.

A&E please missus

ohmeohmy · 09/02/2011 20:54

definitely A&E hope he's ok

NHS Direct would be my first call.

As he has vomited, you need to go straight to A&E.

Children often vomit after a head injury, so it is not necessarily worrying. But it does require a proper medical check to ascertain what is going on.

Just go to A&E. Better to over-react than under with head injuries.

Probably the pizza, but A&E to be on the safe side.

I was there last week with my 6yo when he was sleepy after a fall. All was fine, but it is better to get checked out.

Hope he's ok.

We went to A and E last week when our 10 year old banged his head as he had double vision. Consultant said he was ok and needed to rest but to come back if he had 3 or more sessions of vomiting.

Probably worth getting checked even if just for reassurance tho.

Think it was the pizza

Rang our out of hours doctors and they said to keep an eye on him and let him sleep but gently rouse him every two hours.

so he slept with me and we relegated DH to the sofa.

He woke at 6 this morning and declared that his tummy was much better and he has just ate breakfast and is sitting merrily playing with lego.

He was fine after the fall and the vomiting didn;t happen until 7 hours later so that what made me doubt it was the fall and more likely the pizza.

Going to keep an eye on him today but so far he is back to normal.

Thanks for letting us know. I used to work in A&E, and to be honest not much is done if the child is well and reacting normally. Waking them through the night is a faff but I'm glad he is ok.
