Does a chest infection = bronchitis?

Just took DD to the Drs and he said that she had bronchitis. I was a bit Shock because she's only 9 months and I always thought bronchitis sounded a bit dramatic.

When I expressed my shock, he said "well it's a chest infection" and looked at me as if I was a bit thick.

So are all chest infections called bronchitis, or is bronchitis a certain type of chest infection? Confused

(Sorry if I've been spelling bronchitis wrong!)

Did he say Bronchitis or Bronchiolitis? As Bronchiolitis is a very common cause of chest problems in under 1s.

I'm certain he said bronchitis. How are they different?

He prescribed amoxicillin but I'm not that keen on giving it to her. He did say I could wait 24 hours and see how she is.

Thanks Smile

She's definitely more herself today than she was over the weekend.
