using a 'urinocol' urine bag?

I have to take a urine sample from my 9wo baby and have been given a girl's urine bag (brand urinocol) - although the nurse showed me how to do it I have completely failed to catch any wee with the first one and can't find any directions on the internet to make sure I get it right with the second one she gave me! Has anyone seen any directions on the 'net or can explain to me how you do it? It seems like you mus have to stick the adhesive to her skin which I'm really unsure about as it seems to attach VERY firmly...? Thanks!

yes you stick the adhesive to her skin - completely around the outside. Clean her well first so it's as sterile as possible, dry well, and then stick on with no gaps. Pop the nappy back over the top and feed her - should lead to a wee. When you come to peel it off, just use one hand to apply pressure to her skin so you're not pulling too much. It must hurt less than it looks like it should do as when I do it on my 13mo she really doesn't bat an eyelid yet to me it looks like pulling off elastoplast!

Thanks weegle! Does the valve poke out the top of the front or the back of the nappy?

Can't believe I have been defeated by a plastic bag!

the ones I've had don't have valves, but I imagine the front.

Sorry been out all afternoon and only just logged back on
