Ds doing frequent, small wees

We have recently introduced my ds aged 2.1 to the potty and take his nappy off at regular intervals to sit him on it.I've noticed that he wees very frequently when he has the nappy off but it's a very small amount, just a few drops. He'll then keep doing this every couple of minutes, sometimes every few seconds. Should I be worried?

I'm no expert but are you sure he's ready for potty training? Perhaps try posting there?

I think you constantly produce wee, it's the muscles that enable you to control the flow a bit. Perhaps if his muscles aren't ready yet, he's not able to do this?

What colour/smell is the wee. If it's dark and smelly then he's dehydrated - he'll wee less frequently if he's better hydrated - it's counterintuative I know!

Knitternottwitter- the wee is like water. He will literally have a drink and then ask for another straight away so there is barely any colour at all!

Emmy56- we aren't officially potty training, just introducing a potty so he knows what it's for. Hopefully by the time we start doing it properly this problem will have gone!

Thanks for replying, think I might monitor it over a few days and see about visiting the gp.

Sorry - misunderstood.

when ds1 started potty training, he wee'ed quite frequently and little amounts - but he wee'ed every 10 minutes, could set a clock by it.

gradually, over a few days, he started to be able to 'hold it in' more. i guess the muscles never had to work before.

not sure if this helps. i was also amazed how frequently ds went too.

ok so that's not it... maybe his muscles are just not ready yet? FWIW DS is 2.7 and has just toilet trained... didn't start doing the sitting on the potty seriously until about 2.4.... It's a good idea to familiarise 'em with it though...
