Help DS is 7 days post second op and blood in nappy

DS had tonsils out and then a second op for bleeding last Saturday. We were discharged with open access, ie ability to call ward if any problems came up.

Tonight, DS had bloody mucus in his nappy and in the toilet. I called the ward at 7pm to ask advice, they said they would call me back but haven't.

I suspect its due to the painkillers he is taking (diclofenal suppository), so have stopped giving it for now.

Do you think its ok (and necessary) I guess to call back. I am feeling really anxious about it even though he's well in himself now, but know I might be overreacting because of what happened last weekend. Also need to know what I should do about his pain meds.

Ring them back. Diclofenac is an NSAID so it can cause bleeding in the stomach/bowel.

Call them back - blood (i'm assuming its a fair amount) is not normal. I wouldnt speculate where it came from.

Called back.

Advice was not to give diclofenac and see how it goes, could be that, might not be Hmm.

It wasn't very much blood at all and he's well in himself and sleeping fine, so don't want to have him prodded around again this evening unnecessarily as he's been through so much this week but will definitely keep a close eye on it.
