Teething and really sore nappy rash

Ok, I?m not sure that this is the right place to post but my DS is 6 month old and is very unhappy. He hasn?t got any teeth yet but his gums are bulging and white. He dibbles loads, his teeth are obviously really hurting him and I have tried bongela, dentenox and I have now started giving him calpol. He is so grissly and I don?t know how to make it better.

He has really sore, red, bumpy nappy rash which started about the same time as his teething. We use re-usable nappies and disposable nappies (posh and cheap ones) it doesn?t make a difference and I am using loads of sudocrem and that?s not making a difference. Does anyone have any ideas on how to sooth my little mans pain please? Anything, really, I will try it.

My DS gets a sore bottom whenever he teethes. I found bepanthan better than sudocrem for preventing it, I thinkt it forms a better barrier. And try to give nappy off time, use water and cotton wool instead of wipes, and pat dry with a little towel after every change.

Teething is horrible, we did calpol etc as you have. Mine also likes to chew on a bit of crusty bread, but as yours is 6 months, depends where you are with weaning and finger food. Have you got a teething ring?

It is the saliva that babes swallow that causes the nappy rash. IMO Sudocream is best to treat it but to stop the thyroid producing so much 'drool' in the first place, there is nothing to compare with an amber teething necklace. Have a look at www.teethingsos.com

I just asked about this also. My ds get terrible terrible rash when teething and I have found nothing to get rid of it. I have tried...3 diaper rash creams, vaseline, aveeno eczema lotion, anti fungal cream, triple antibiotic cream, and a prescription rash cream. The thing that worked the best was the prescription but as it was a friends I only used it a handful of times.

All that said the only thing I have found that helps at all is giving him an oat meal bath. Put oatmeal in a sock, squeese it into the water so it gets cloudy . Then you can use the sock with sort of oatmeal goo on it to rub his bottom. It really helps to soothe it. Anyway then aveeno lotion and vaseline. This doesn't make it go away but helps too soothe.

Thanks for the replies. I have been bathing him in lightly salted water at night and using cotton wool balls and water rather than using wet wipes. I also tried bepanthen because I found a sample we had in the bounty pack and this combination has seemed to work well.

I?m not buying a necklace to sort this out because we?ve bought breast feeding necklaces, cushions, slings and all sorts of invaluable items that all parents and babies need and I refuse to buy anymore of this shit miracle wonders from the lost worlds .

Ooh FluteyBoots I tried the crusty bread and we have load of teething rings but they're pretty rubbish.

does any of ur little ones have flushed cheeks with it? my DD is 16 weeks and has a snotty nose, dribbling, chewing, flushed cheeks and somtimes a hot forehead but no temp. is this teething?

mandmsmummy yes it can be a sign of teething but it might also be a combination of teething and a head cold. hope she's feeling better.
