It is daktarin oral gel, 2%.

Lady in the chemist said to use it four times a day after looking at DD's tounge/mouth and asking her age (4yo)

Weve been using it since saturday morning and ive just checked the leaflet and it says to use only twice a day for children of DD's age!!!!! Shock

I did read the leaflet before but missed this bit, only saw the 4 times a day for adult/elderly!!! Angry at myself!!

Will this have harmed DD? I feel awful :(

I'm sure it will be fine, don't panic, if you are worried then phone NHS direct, they will be able to tell you if its harmful.

Agreem with Marne - phone NHS if you are worried. They were ,ovely when I took some of DS anti convulsant by mistake! Two bottles side by side, his medication and my cough mixture, Both had red medicine inside.

Thanks, just calling NHS direct now..and can't help panicking, in the 3 days we have used it she should have had 6 doses, but she has had 12 :(

I'm sure it will be fine!

I hope you find the time to go back to the chemist (or call them) and tell them what has happened - just so no one else ends up in your situation.

25goingon95 · 24/01/2011 20:41

chippingin, i will.

DH on phone now. Im worried :( The leaflet says to go to A+E or contact doctor if too much given :( Must be bad!!

I think 'if too much given' probably means if they have swigged it from the bottle!

What's the next age group & dose? What size is she for her age?

GastonTheLadybird · 24/01/2011 20:45

That's standard leaflet spiel, calm down until you know whether or not you need to worry, no point upsetting yourself for possibly nothing.

25goingon95 · 24/01/2011 20:50

Thanks guys. No nurse available so they are calling back in a while.

It is to be used 4x daily for age 6 years +. DD will be 5 in 5 weeks. She is tall for her age but very skinny.

nurse on phone now will update later. And breathe......

phew...nurse said it is not toxic so using an extra 2 times a day for 3 days won't do her any harm :) She said the worst that would happen is diarroeah or sickness.

thanks for trying to calm me! Blush :)

[bgrin]

That's great news...

Sorry we couldn't do any more to put your mind at rest! I was sure it would be OK, but with no medical training, one has to be a little wary of being too sure about these things!

:) thanks chippingin.
