Hearing test in 2.9 yo DD

My DD has to have a hearing test next week (Monday).

She had to have regular eardrops for weeks as she had a big build up of wax. We were referred to ENT as the GP said they would need to be syringed/suction cleared. When we got to the ENT appointment just before Christmas, the doctor we saw said that all was fine, wax had cleared nicely. He just wanted to do a hearing test to ensure all was well.

How will this be done? Her speech is not developed enough for her to say when she can hear a beep or anything.

Will she have to wear headphones? I can't imagine her keeping them on her head

Does anyone have any experience of this to tell me what to expect?

my dd had 2 but she was 3 and 6 mths . She had a headset over her ears and they did it- all digital . It diddn't take long but in the room there were toys, a table and crayons, and the machine had a long extension cable . The second time dd was asleep and they did it in the pram. This is Italy and the Uk is as a rule better set up for child friendly medcine . Good luck.

Hi, my 2 yr old has regular hearing tests. They use a distraction technique where my son sits on one if our laps and one of the audiologists will sit in front and distract him with toys, there are two computer screens either side at a distance. Different sounds will then be played from either side and when your child turns to look fir the noise they are rewarded with an image on the screen. The test usually lasts about twenty minutes. We have been to three different clinics for tests and they use much the same technique in all. If they feel your child might benefit from ear specific tests, they will use headphones, however the distraction technique will be used first.

I sometimes worry because DD is so shy and doesn't interact with strangers at all so she may ignore any noise just to be ignorant!

Hopefully she is ina cooperative mood!
