My 9 year old is getting spots!

Since the summer DS1(9.5) has had (on separate occasions)two large red spots on his nose. They are large, very red and angry looking, and slightly 'shiny' if that makes sense. They both came up into a head eventually but seemed to take ages to do so. Isn't he a bit young for spots? I was wondering whether these are boils - the one he has at the moment looks as if it might have two small heads. He says it's very painful to touch. I've been using tea tree oil and warm salt water on it.

Anyone else's pre-teen DCs had this?
(Not sure if it's relevant but he has had a huge growth spurt recently - height and weight - and has started getting body odour under his arms).

Yes quite normal - think my dd was maybe just 10 when she started getting whiffy and pimply. Hunker down and prepare for the moods!!
