Bleeding when having a poo

Hi all, need some advice. My DS who is almost 12 is bleeding when having a poo. I only noticed because yesterday he forgot to flush the toilet. I have also found lots of watery poo in the toilet a nuimber of times in the last couple of months. There was a fair amount of blood yesterday and I spoke to him about it last night but he was very very reluctant to discuss it, to the point where he denied it was him. After reassuring him he needn't worry about being embarrassed or anything he opened up. I asked him if it's difficult to poo and he says no. He says it doesn't hurt either and is generally well in himself. He says it only happened for the first time yesterday and this morning when he had a poo, he told me it had happened again. I have booked an appointment with the doctor but can't get in til Monday.
Anyone give me any advise please? Thank you.
