Red painful heel

My ds suddenly cried out in pain at weekend. He described a pain in his heel which was like it was being gripped tight rather than a stabbing pain. He had no splinter, he hadn't banged it or pulled any muscles. He gets pins and needles regularly and so he said it was nothing like that, he also gets cramp and says it was not like that either. When I examined his foot his heel, and skin to middle of his arch was bright red, and so tender to the touch that even loose bed covers were unbearable. He does get spinal pressure as a result of edical condition, Ehlers danlos syndrome, but as far as I know this does not fit with EDS. Does anyone have any ideas about what it could be? Thank you in advance.

Could it be cellulitis? It is caused by a bacteria which can enter skin through the tiniest pin prick. I would have it checked by the GP to be honest.

I don't know much about cellulitis. I will have to google it. I was trying to avoid taking him to the gp, as he has to go so often and he gets fed up, but I fear you might be right and I should make an appointment.

His heel is fine now, but it has started in his right hand. I am beginning to think it must be something to do with spinal pressure. Sad
