Shingles :-(

My 3yo has shingles :-( Hard to find much info on this age group- anyone else experienced it? He has an absolutely awful looking case on his whole right arm, hand and shoulder but it doesn't seem to hurt or bother him - I've read it's often not painful in younger children. Any ideas on how long it might take to clear up (started on Saturday) and what might trigger it? We've just moved house so I've only currently got the walk-in centre and the Drs there aren't really in the mood for long chats!

my ds also had shingles at age 3 but was first misdiagnosed as eczema!! It lasts around the same amount of time as chicken pox would. It isnt really known what triggers shingles - maybe being run down, stressed, etc.

DS1 had it aged 6, around his ribs. Only a couple of days when he had pain with it (I think he cried once), a bit fevery once or twice but nothing much. Took about a week to dry up, there was a visible mark afterwards for a few months but that's it. All in all much much milder than when adults get it - don't panic.
