Threadworms

Apologies for this but if you can't ask on here then where can you ... How do you know if your child has threadworms? My dd aged 4 woke up last night crying and saying that her bottom was itchy and today said that it was still itchy. I had a look but couldn't see anything. I'm reluctant to give her the worm medicine unless I'm sure that's what it is, as I seem to remember from childhood that it's quite unpleasant to take. Any advice? TIA

Medication is orange flavoured and nice now. Dd had it when little, I never did see them DP did. Tend not to bother them in the day, they come out at night and cause itching.

Thanks that's reassuring. I'll have another look and try the tablets if necessary
