Ds is 6.5m and has 2 to 3 meals a day as well as 2 to 3 bf daytime but usually 3 to4 small bf through the night. Last night he vomited lots of milk at 2 am then continued to vomit watery clear fluid in between short bouts of sleep.

Got up this morning and he has watery stools too. so i phoned mum who said i should just give him water to drink today and nothing to eat or bf but I dont know what to do as he had no bfs through the night and is clearly wanting milk

Also I know I wont run out of milk but but dont want to go a whole day and a half without feeding

Sorry if its a bit long winded. V tired Sad

Has anyone got advice please?

you can (and should) carry on bf'ing - but leave off the solids. Because he is so small, I'd get him to the GP today for a check up. Babies of this age can dehydrate very fast.

I hope he picks up soon.

I wouldn't stop a child having fluid of anysort if they want it, especially if they are ill.

up to date advice is still to feed whether they are breast/bottle fed so keep on bf as it will keep him hydrated and will maintain your supply too.

offer food and milk as usual. let him choose if he wants it or not.
probably only bread and rice will go in. banana and carrots also good. avoid anything acidic
DD1 would stop eating when sick DD2 still need to eat.

As others have said, please keep feeding.

Hope she feels better soon Smile

Always BF. I don't think there's ever ANY reason not to BF. It's nearly as effective as an IV IMHO, having watched the difference between mine (FF) children and my friend's (BF) children from a DV bug.

In the same circumstance I carried on BF but only allowed DD to have 3 or 4 gulps, and then took her off for 10 or 15 minutes - if she had a full feed it invariably came straight up again...

Hope you're all feeling better soon - we've been struck down today too Sad
