Refusing bottle and very worried!

Hi

Not sure if anyone can advise me on what I can do. My DD is four months and over the last week-10 days she has been really fussing over her food. She is FF (milk intolerant) and takes about three of her six ounces before she puts the barriers up, she starts moving her head, waving her arms, crying, clamping her mouth shut, basically anything to not drink anymore, and then sometimes she decides to carry on and other times she doesn't.

Today she had 7 ounces this morning, 2 ounces at lunchtime and has just point blank refused the 5pm feed.. As soon as anything goes near her mouth she is crying and quite inconsolable.

She has reflux but this is being treated, I think she is teething, as she has been chewing her muslin, has red cheeks, been drooling etc. Is this proper behaviour for a baby that is teething? I am really worried she is taking no food. She is not the biggest of babies as it is. How long do I leave it before phoning NHS / taking her to A and E?

She is now on 4 feeds of 7 oz each.

Hope someone can help me! (And sorry its so long!)

It could be down to teething yes. I would try offering more regulary for a few days to see if you can get it into her.

The main thing to watch for is having wet nappies, at the first sign of not weeing as normal I would seek help.

Check her mouth, she may have thrush. It does sound like something's sore.

Thank you ladies. She has at least started taking some bottle again but something is definately not right and she has had some very "interesting" nappies today. Will indeed check for thrush.

have you tried putting teething gel on or givingher a calpol 20mins before feeding? my son was like this with teething. i also find ging him a very cold bottle was soothing for his gums.

the other thing to try is she might not like the formula, my son just refused to drink it by 6mo. i had tried all the usual teething tricks then out of desperation i gave him a bottle of cows milk and he never looked back. try the teething options first tho.
