DH and I have flu. The kids are now coughing a bit. What can I give them to try and head it off before it gets them fully?

DH and I feel like shit. The kids are okay apart from the cough.

it may be too late. I think the old advice, i.e. keep them warm, give them lots of fluids, make sure they rest.If they get flu, hot steamy baths, calprofen and hot ribena is what I would do.

My dc have had this all over xmas it has been a nightmare.
I have been using medised for the older ones and calpol for Lo's.
Have also bought som tonic for them the blurb is that you give it to kids durng and just after an illness.
Plenty of fluids and tissues for them and proplus .

Thank you. They are all fine at the moment except for 1 or 2 coughs a day. This morning I felt better than I do now. I have been in bed for the last don't know how long actually.

my gp ays lots of wamr drinks ie warm orange, blackcurrent - she said its like rinsing a dirty plate in cold water, it doesnt clear the dirt but warm water cleans the dirt away same as a chesty cough and cold the warm fluids clean away the phegm(sp!)

I am not normally that into homeopathy but for me and the DC's what echinacea does for colds is what arnica does for bruises.
If your going to take it though, take it quick cause it is fairly useless once it's already set in ifyswm
