Rash after cough / virus

DS2 is 9 months old. He's had a chesty cough now for about 6+ weeks, mostly affects him at night.

First Dr reckoned reflux Hmm, second doctor (a week later, when DS2 had been running a temp for 2 days and unwell in himself) thought a chest infection and prescribed amoxycillin.

Since then (antibiotics finished on monday), he's been fine in himself, although cough persists, more phlegmy now, I'm hoping cough working its way out.

yesterday, he woke with a freckly, pale pink rash over his torso, up to his neck. he is absolutely fine in himself, i'm not worried. BUT, i'm seeing older relatives, pregnant ladies over next few days. does this sound just end of a virus to anyone?

I'd call the out of hours docs to check what it could be!

thanks iggly - his rash was actually much fainter today, hardly visible. he is still fine in himself, but i am keeping my eye on him. thanks for posting.

Could be the end of a virus. I work in a nursery and have seen this loads of times and have even suffered from it myself.

Sounds similar to roseola infantum - the pattern for that is a week or so like a chest infection with horrid green phlegm and alarming high temp followed by sudden rash starting on torso, red at first then duller pink radiating out to face and limbs. Once the rash is out, the temperature goes down, which is the important thing, and the rash is gone in 3-4 days.

Sounds like he's better now and that the rash was the end of it.
