Six and a half month old dd has had an upset tummy for about 10 days now. I went to the doctors and described her symptoms (lots of green poos, pretty much every time she fed or had solids). She is mixed fed (ebf till 5 months). She had a v v sore bottom as well (red raw despite constantly applying metanium cream). However, her bottom is a lot better, which i took to mean her poos were less frequent/ acidic. It's hard for me to tell as i also have a 2 year old and days pass in a blur of nappy changes. I do know that she has gone from about 1 or 2 poos a day and none at night to lots in the day and also through the night (needless to say neither of us getting much sleep).

She has not had a temperature at any point, but is still pooing a lot and bringing up more milk than usual. Lots of wet nappies still. The doctor thought this was all brought on by a stomach bug, but is it normal for it to go on for such a long time? Has anyone got any experience with this? could it be dietary?

Doctor told me to give just milk, but have in last couple of days given her some baby rice too as she seems hungry. Any advice about feeding? Have no idea what to do. Could goback to docs but don't know if there's much they could tell me....

Sorry v longwinded but need some advice/ reassurance!

Should also say that i think her poos, though just as frequent as before, are getting smaller in terms of quantity. Is this any indication of improvement?

she may have a temporary lactose intolerance brought on by the tummy bug which is why the nappies havent cleared up completely. You could maybe try a lactose free milk for a short while to see if it helps - maybe your gp could prescribe one. If she is hungry you can also give solids - keep it bland and simple and preferable carb rich.
