DS has had a cold and a bit of a cough for a while. Has also sounded a bit croaky for the last day.

He woke up crying this evening with a really barking cough. Also sounded like he was struggling to inhale.

I've calmed him down and he has gone back to sleep but he still sounds like a baby seal.

Yes, mine had it at 7. Put him in the bathroom with the shower on hot so it goes really steamy, will help clear his airways.

Poor thing. Does Vicks work? Our shower doesn't really get hot enough!

DD never responded to steam but if your shower's not hot a kettle in the room, towels on radiators, bowls of hot water etc. Trouble is with a 4yr old, they're mobile so hard to keep them out of the way of boiling water.

DD has just had croup out of nowhere. She's 3 and a half. Vicks and some cold night air (window open a crack while well wrapped up and allowed to inhale a bit) worked really well.
