QUICK QUESTION ABOUT ANTI BIOTICS AND FOOD

DD has suspected tonsillitis, for which she's been given anti biotics. Doctor said to take an hour or so before food or on empty stomach.

What happens if her stomach isn't empty? She's supposed to have a dose now but had food (a satsuma and some grapes) an hour ago..

and is it better to give it 'late' with an empty stomach or on time with food in stomach. Thanks

just give it before the meal she is about to eat. I think its about how it is digested but i am only guessing.

Still give the antibiotics but try and remember to get the next one in an hour before dinner.
Its just the absorbption is much better when the stomach is empty. Its now digesting food so less interested in absorbing the a-biotics.

Ds has just been on antibiotics for the same reason. It's and hour before food or 2 hours after. Apparently the stomach has to be empty other wise it isn't digested properly and won't work as well to clear up the infection.

I couldn't get him to take it so in the end after speaking to the doctor I mixed it in yoghurt. She did say it will still work.
