DD aged 5 needing the loo a lot

Frequent visits for a wee. i have taken her to GP where I took in a sample. Gp did one of those dip tests and everything looked normal on this. He suggested it could be the cold. Sometimes DD is ok and others she is going so often, some of these times she doesn't pass hardly anything. I wonder if could be an attention thing or an infection which didn't show up on preliminary test. Should I take her back to GP and ask for further tests? Be grateful for any advice!

Is she an anxious type? I only ask because my niece was the same and also at 5.

She wuld go all thetime...after a lot of stressing my sister put it down to habit...DN was going to the loo to distract herself.

thanks, this is what I'm wondering, just want to rule anything medical out really

Can you get her to drink cranberry juice until the GP checks her again. It often helps if it is a UTI.

How long has it been going on? I ask because my DD is like this for a day or two before she gets a cold. I thought it was odd but my mum says she is the same :)

just to update, took DD back to GP and did a lab test on urine sample. Results now back and all clear. She is still needing the toilet a lot but not all the time. This last week she has gone to bed and literally been up at LEAST 6 times before settling to sleep. i've tried "listening in" and she is not always actually passing water.
I'm guessing now its more of a psychological thing, I've had a little chat to see if anything is bothering her but she's generally a happy child. If anyone else could shed any light on this or how to deal with it I'd be really grateful! Thanks

Are her bowels ok, when dd 1 becomes constipated her ability to control her wees disappears and she describes an altered sensation.

thanks for replies. We had a bad time last night, DD was a little later going to bed due to the holidays and so didn't go down till around 8.15 We had 2 hours constantly up and down. DH and I at our wits end, tried calm talking, getting stern etc in the end I asked DD to get into bed with me and we told some stories in the hope this would calm her(she'd become upset during our talking) eventually she fell asleep around 10.30, despite being in bed with me she still got up to the loo i don;t know how many times.
now she has been in bed since 7.30 and has been constantly up and down, i'm trying to ignore her.
we are travelling to relative tomorrow for christmas, I'm dreading the bed time.
Yesterday she hadn't emptied her bowels but has today, I'd hoped this would help, she also seems full of wind. Wondered if she has an upset tum?
