Sore eyes

Hi,
Last week I had DS off school with a nasty cough, headache and not eating. This week my eldest who is 7 has had the same thing. She seemed to perk up and even went to her climbing lesson yesterday, but then went down hill again. Tired, quiet, not eating, headache.
This in itself doesn't concern me, but what does is that she keeps complaining her eyes are "sore". Today she was ok so we went to the garden centre to buy them all a new Christmas decoration, we walked through the dark bit where the lights are on display and she complained about the lights hurting her eyes. We took them to the cafe immediately afterwards and she didn't want to eat said her eyes were still hurting and that her head was as well.

So what I would like to know is are her sore eyes related to her cough/virus or is it a separate issue? And what if anything do I do?

Could be mild viral conjunctivitis. Or swollen sinuses.

I've no idea what official best advice is, I would probably tell her to leave the eyes alone (do not rub) and X my fingers it went away soon (usually does ime).

Thanks. I hadn't thought about sinuses, but it really could be that. She's been to school today, but come home and fell straight asleep on the settee and eaten nothing all day. I don't think I'll send her tomorrow.

the cold virus causes the mucus membranes to become inflammed and the eyes are all connected to the throat and nose.. (if you put eye drops in you can taste them a few seconds later.
