Why does dd keep getting mouth ulcers?

She's 7 and seems to keep gettign them. How can I treat them best and anyone know why she's getting them??

I get them when I'm generally run down. has she had a lot of colds etc recently? Or sometimes they can be caused when you damage your gum or inside your cheek by biting them or with 'sharp' food. If you can get her to rinse her mouth out with salty water it can provide temporary relief...

You need to take her to the drs if she is getting them alot as they need to find out she is so run down. Stress can cause them too.

Does she eat lots of sweeties? Or sugary stuff? I've heard too much sugar can exacerbate mouth ulcers. Poor lass. They're really sore, aren't they?

She doesnt have sweeets very often and when she does that doesnt seem to coincide with an ulcer.
She does seem to get one if she's had a late night though.

She also has what's like a sore on her vulva area that she's had for about a week.

I suffered from this all through my childhood and still occasionally get bouts. Too much citrus is a generally accepted culprit, I have also heard a theory that sodium laurel sulphate in toothpaste can be a factor but have never seen toothpaste without it!

The very best thing is Orabase, a steroid cream, to put on them. It does work and you can get it from GP.

I got them all the time and there was nothing wrong with me and I was not especially stressed, my dad did too when he was young. We both largely grew out of it.

She doesnt need much sleep (never has) so I'd be surprised if she was anaemic. I guess that does mean a visit to the GP.

DH gets them if he doesn't get enough Vit C.

Highly recommend that you get some manuka honey (go for 15+)... it's pricey but the very best natural cure for mouth ulcers..(amongst many other things) Just eat a teaspoonful or so a few times a day and try to encourage her to hold the honey against the ulcer, it can sting a bit at first if ulcer very bad but will cure it in no time.... use a clean spoon each time...

Also advise laying off anything too acidic, citrus, tomatoes especially as can really aggravate mouth ulcers

could be her toothpaste. Try something very natural without all the additives and stuff in it.
