Flu - really cold room

My DD (aged 5) has flu (temperature, aches, shivers etc), no surprise as most of her class have it. We are living in a freezing cottage at the moment (literally no insulation) and her bedroom temp is still only 8 degrees C despite electric heater full on. Other rooms in the house are just as cold. She is in bed with vest, pjs, socks and two duvets and seems warm under there. Is the cold air temp going to make the flu worse for her even though her body is warm under her duvet or am I worrying over nothing?

It'll probably make her nose run more but shouldn't be a real problem. She is adequately dressed and has enough bedding......hope she feels better soon.

Can't you take her in your room/bed and put her heater also in your room so that your room is closer to a normal room temperature? I think with flu the risk is not just fever but also severe undercooling and that risk will be greater if the room is very cold (although not all children do undercool when they have flu). Hope she gets better soon.

I would take her to bed with you. What if she uncovers during the night? 8 degrees is about 10 degrees colder than recommended room temperature. It's too cold to leave her there alone imo.When body is fighting an infection it shouldn't be wasting energy trying to keep warm.

And poor you. Will you have to live the whole winter there?
