raniditine and reflux

does anyone know whether I can just stop giving my 6 month old ranidine (been on it since 6 weeks) or whether I have to wean him off it slowly?
Thanks

I know that you have to wean them off Omeprazole - I would imagine it would be the same for Ranitidine - they've got used to having a lower amount of acid, if you suddenly increase that amount I can imagine it would cause problems.

Reduce one dose/day and add it back if reflux recurs.

Thanks. I reduced it from 3 to 2 a few weeks back and nothing. I reduced it to 1 a few days ago and still he seems happy enough.

We weaned DS off it at 1 year (been on it since 5 weeks) slowly, cutting and reducing doses, on GP's advice.

ask your gp as you dont want to damage their oesophagus.
