Bacterial vaginosis in children?

My daughter has had a sore & itchy vagina on and off since the summer, she's also had a smelly discharge. We went to the doctors and they did a swab & tested her urine and couldn't find anything. They said it is likely bacterial vaginosis and it will go away on it's own, they were pretty vague and everytime we went they kept saying just leave it and see if it clears. The discharge has been back now for a week and she said it was really itchy today, does anyone have any experience with BV?

My mum has it. It is very common. Common symptoms are the white, odorous discharge but usually it is not painful or itchy. Usually anti-biotics are prescribed.

I remeber when I was younger probably about 5 or 6 I had alot of discharge and my mum took me to the doctor about it and I was given some pink liquid to bathe in. I don't remember what it was but maybe these things are more common than we think in young children.

How old is your DD?

Not using soap, loose cotton pants will help :)
