Over-exuberant cradle cap brushing :(

DS is 16 weeks and has quite a lot of horrible cradle cap. It was bothering me him all day and was looking quite 'loose' so when we got home I decided to give it a brush.

I used his baby brush but was quite rigorous and now it's gone quite wet and weepy. Ugh.

Is this bad? What should I do now? Had previously been using Dentinox shampoo but stopped before the weekend as it seemed to be giving DS a really dry forehead, so now using Boots cradle cap cream. Should I not put any on now that his head is wet?

Would leave well alone tbh, if still weepy in the morning take to the GP as it may be infected.

Ick no advice sorry but I understand how tempting it is to have a good pick!
I sometimes pick some of the loose bits out of DD's hair whilst she is asleep in my arms. But I really have to restrain myself.

I covered my babies heads with Vaseline and used a nit comb to comb out all the cradle cap. Worked a treat, but the baby with long hair needed a few washes to get rid of all the Vaseline.

I think you should probably leave his until it has dried up, then try again.

i used a nit comb as well to shift the cradle crap in my 3 year old, works a treat!

I was advised by my hv to use extra virgin olive oil on his head and a baby comb.
I did it once, but it felt a bit too brutal so I just kept with the dentinox shampoo.
I agree that if it's still weepy tomorrow, it may be worth a quick trip to the docs to check the best course of action

Does he have a lot of hair? I found cutting DS's hair seemed to help. Gets the air to it.

Also massaging it very very gently is supposed to help.

As he got older it cleared up though so maybe chuck the brush for now!

No, hardly any hair which makes it so much more conspicuous. Ugh, cradle crap makes me feel all yicky inside

Ok, will see how things look tomorrow - have a GP appointment for him on Thursday anyway, so will get her to check him out then.

Dentinox didn't work for either of my children. Neither did anything else that was suggested. I just very gently picked a tiny bit away day by day.

I was quite surprised to find a little bit still on my 4 yr old daughter's head a few months ago that I missed, so it just goes to show that it doesn't eventually go away, as they used to tell me.
