Allergic to bread?

My 15m DS seems to have an adverse reaction when given bread - he has very loose smelly nappies and a windy tummy. We've tried home made bread to see if that makes a difference, but it doesn't seem to.
He eats a lot of pasta, porridge, cereal, fruit, veg and seems fine with that but recently he had a really nasty d&v bug for about a week and now his tummy is really swollen, hard and distended.
This coincides with us trying the homemade bread and so now I don't know whether its a hangover from the illness or a reaction to the bread. He has also recently started having cows milk before bed as I bf until 14m but then he has had cows milk in porridge every morning for 6 month or so.
Any ideas? He doesn't seem to be uncomfy, sleeps ok and generally a happy chappy.
Should I be looking at dietician referral etc?
Any feedback appreciated, thanks

Thanks for that, we've noticed the bread thing for several months now so I don't think its related to the bug.
I gave his tum a really good massage before bed and this morning he had a massive explosion and got loads of stuff out so he's much less swollen today.
Do you think the GP will take me seriously about the gluten thing though? whenever I take him for anything the usual response is oh give him calpol!
