Vitamin C supplements?

Wasn't really sure where to post this...

Anyway, I read in the Guardian yesterday that rosehips are "mind-bogglingly rich" in vitamin C (who knew?) and that rosehip syrup was a regular part of childrens' diets after WW2. Does anyone know/remember (?!) anything about this or still give their children rosehip/vitamin C supplements? If not, why not? Are diets considerably more varied and improved now or have we just got complacent?

I don't give my dd any supplements but am now wondering if I should...
